TWO men have been arrested for breaching a dispersal order in Glastonbury.
The order was put in place due to anti-social behaviour taking place on Glastonbury High Street on Saturday (June 28)
The two men were arrested after they refused to comply with the order.
Dispersal orders are legally enforceable and prohibit individuals from returning to the designated area once directed to leave.
The Section 34 Dispersal Order remains in effect and will continue to be actively enforced, a Mendip Neighbourhood Policing spokesperson said.
“In response to a small number of individuals causing anti-social behaviour (ASB) in Glastonbury High Street yesterday, a Section 34 Dispersal Order was put in place covering Glastonbury High Street and the surrounding area,” the spokesperson said.
“Today, three individuals were issued Section 35 Dispersal Notices instructing them to leave the area. While one person complied, two males refused and were subsequently arrested for breaching the conditions of the notice.
“These notices are legally enforceable and prohibit individuals from returning to the designated area once directed to leave.
“The Section 34 Dispersal Order remains in effect and will continue to be actively enforced.
“Officers will maintain a visible presence on Glastonbury High Street to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents, businesses, and visitors. We thank the community for their continued support.”
